In Rome, Marco Carotenuto teaches photography in two formats: one-to-one private courses, in person in the city or online, with a programme built on the student's own photos; and group workshops of five to eight people held entirely in the field in the historic centre. There is no absolutely better course: there is the one that fits how you learn. One to one if you need the programme to follow you; in a group if you learn better by watching others work, and want to spend less.

You already have a camera and specific questions, or you are starting from zero and want nobody moving faster than you. The programme is built on your photos and your pace, and lessons move when your life moves.
You want to spend less and learn by watching: in a group of five to eight you see six other ways of solving the same scene, a shortcut you do not get alone. And you leave the house at an hour you would not leave it by yourself.
The sequence that works best is a workshop to see how field work is done, then two or three private lessons to fix what the workshop showed you that you did not know. People who do it in that order improve faster.
No. You need a camera that lets you set shutter and aperture manually: any DSLR or mirrorless from the last fifteen years will do, second-hand included, kit lens included. After three hours, the person with expensive gear and the person with cheap gear take the same photographs: the difference is who looks better.
Yes, and it is the most common case. The individual beginner course starts exactly there: what actually happens when you press the button, and how to stop letting the camera decide. In group workshops the level is mixed and the itinerary is designed to work for someone on their first serious outing.
No, and that is not a detail. In-person private lessons take place in the city with the camera in your hands; online ones are screen-shared on your own photos. Workshops happen entirely on foot. In a classroom you learn the theory of photography; in the field you learn to photograph.
The private course runs over several sessions and includes a practical outing; the group workshop is a single session of a few hours. The current price of both is shown above next to each product and comes straight from the price list: nothing appears afterwards.
Italian and English. In group workshops, if even one participant does not speak Italian, I explain in both languages: it slows things slightly and leaves nobody behind.
